CMSgt Michael R. Carton, USAF, Ret.
Michael R. Carton currently serves as the Air Force Sergeants Association’s (AFSA) International President. In this role, he is responsible for the management and oversight of seven divisions, 125 individual chapters, and over 100,000 enlisted members and their families located around the world. Carton serves as AFSA’s principal representative in all matters pertaining to its affairs.
Carton enlisted in the Air Force on 16 February 1968 and retired on 31 July 1995. He served in Vehicle Operations and Manpower and Personnel career fields. He also worked with numerous Defense Contractor firms as well as USAF Civil Service. He retired from Civil Service on 31 May 2015.
Carton’s community service includes working with Legion Post 543, St James NC on community and veterans’ programs. He also briefs Junior ROTC students at South Brunswick High School on Air Force opportunities, and he is a member of the Town of St James Emergency Management Team.
In 1998, Carton was named AFSA Member of the Year. He also serves on the Enlisted Foundation board of directors.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Management, from the University of Maryland 1986, and a Masters in Operational Arts and Sciences from Air University.
