Local Businesses Celebrate #GivingTuesdayNow with Gifts to AFEV
Advanced Fire Protection Services and Eglin Federal Credit Union Present Donations to Air Force Enlisted Village for #GivingTuesdayNow
Advanced Fire Protection Services and Eglin Federal Credit Union presented the Air Force Enlisted Village with $5000 each on Tuesday, May 5, for the global day of giving and unity called Giving Tuesday Now.
Not to be confused with the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday, #GivingTuesdayNow was created as an emergency response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19. The day was designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

“We’re so grateful for the generosity from Advanced Fire Protection Services and Eglin Federal Credit Union,” AFEV President and CEO said. “This money will go a long way to help keep our 500 residents here safe with prevention and protection protocols we’ve had in place since early March.”

Air Force Enlisted Village continues to do everything possible to protect independent living residents at Bob Hope Village and assisted living residents at Hawthorn House who are senior citizens (most are military widows) and are most vulnerable to coronavirus/COVID-19. This unexpected and unprecedented situation created a financial strain from unbudgeted expenses for the Air Force Enlisted Village. Cleaning and disinfecting processes have increased, extra staff have been hired to screen people entering the campus or perform other necessary tasks such as shop for groceries for the 500 residents.
Fundraising events have been postponed due to Florida’s social distancing guidelines and have created a negative impact on critical funds that the Air Force Enlisted Village, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, counts on each year.
